Godin is a fishing village near Cap Haitien in northern Haiti. For years people have headed out in their wooden boats to fish the bay. In recent years there have been low yields. This is due in part to over fishing. A dying reef caused by erosion is another issue that makes fish numbers historically low.
One way to address the reef health is to terrace the hills around the bay so that soil does not wash into the water killing the reef.
One way to address limited fish supply is to farm tilapia. Will you partner with us and invest in this project that produces jobs, renews the reef and creates sustainable business opportunities for the people of Godin?
